The Power of Prayer

Image
First of all, I love this picture.   I came across a quote by Pres. Oaks about the power of prayer.  "You have no idea what's shifting because you pray. You think you're just whispering words in your car. Just crying out in your closet. Just mumbling through tears you can't explain. But in the spirit? Angels are moving. Chains are breaking. Destinies are being realigned.  Demons are losing legal ground. Heaven is learning in. You're not just talking. You're warring. You're building altars that will outlive you. You're interceding for bloodlines that don't even know they're being covered. Prayer is not a soft option. It's a supernatural strategy. That's why the enemy fights it so hard. That's why your phone buzzes when you kneel. that's why your mind races when you try to focus. Because prayer is the place of power. The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous believer can accomplish much when put into action and made effe...

The Lord's House shall be established in the top of the mountain

Image
President Lee speaks to the new missionaries about this special mission they have been chosen to be a part of.  He quotes from Isaiah 2 where it says in verse 2, "And it shall come to past in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow until it." He says this is literally happening before our eyes.  The Lord's house shall be established in the tops of the mountains.  (Salt Lake Temple).  And in these last day all nations shall flow unto it.  We are seeing people come from all over the world joining the Church in our SLC Mission.  It is a miracle and marvel to see this happen each day.   Our missionaries are teaching large numbers of people in Arabic, the Rwandan language of Kinyarwanda, Mandarin, French and of course Spanish.  Adding to this on 15 Apr 2026. This past weekend was our stake conference. Pres Dunkley b...

Missionary Miracle

Image
I love to hear miracles among the missionaries.  Sister Langi was serving a mission in Peru and for some reason needed to come home.  She then served a service mission for a while and then transferred to a teaching mission in our mission.   I have gotten to know her and saw a kind of shy sister grow into an enthusiastic, giant smile missionary.  She had a great trainer, Sister Tu'inakuafu.   Sister Langi was transferred to WY for her last area and what unfolded up there is nothing short of a miracle. She and her companion have been teaching a family from Peru that just moved to Wyoming.  And they are a family that Sister Langi was teaching in Peru!  What are the odds?  I am sure for her, for this family and for all of us seeing this, it is truly sign of God's love for his children.

The Shootings in Rose Park -The Savior watches over his missionaries

Image
Yesterday evening was not a good day in Rose Park and for the missionaries in that area. But like this picture depicts, it has been reiterated to me that Jesus Christ watches over his missionaries Around 7:00 pm last night at the Tongan LDS church on Redwood Rd and 600 N a shooting occurred. There was a funeral viewing for a Tongan brother taking place and an argument occurred outside the building. Then gunshots and 2 people were killed and 6 injured. Terrible! I found out about this because my children were calling me concerned for my safety since I live in this neighborhood.  This morning as I was coming to the mission office, my mind started to think about the missionaries in the area. When I got to the office I asked President Lee what we should do.  He's was ahead of me in thinking about things and told me that last night two elders were across the street from the shooting and heard the shots and witnessed the event and called 911.  The missionaries then calle...

The comings and goings of missionaries

I had no idea how much missionaries come and go in the mission.  It makes for a crazy time! Let me give you an example of what is happening right now.  Pres and Sister Lee went up to Wyoming with a sister for an emergency transfer .  Two sisters were not getting along. So there needed to be a change. An elder from Wyoming was transported back to SLC because he was being sent home for misconduct.  (Just saying it like it is.) Another elder was playing ball on P-Day and broke his ankle.  He is going home tomorrow for surgery and recovery. And another elder was on his bike and hit by a car.  He is going home. (President Lee has to take two elders to the airport in wheelchairs.) Another elder just returned on Tuesday, from a leave.  He had to go home and have a surgery. Yesterday, I took a Pilipino sister to the airport (at 5:00 am) as she is going to her mission in Taiwan.  She has been a visa waiter in our mission.   This happens quite ...

More Miracles

Image
I wish I could post pics of the missionaries I write about but I want to respect privacy and such.  I see miracles all the time on my mission. I know how much Heavenly Father loves his children as I observe these miracles.  And I have another story to tell that is worth writing about.   There is a sister called to our mission from Madagascar.  Her arrival keeps getting delayed even though she is in the Provo MTC.  We finally found out why the delays.  While here, in Provo, she has been diagnosed with cancer.  The Church has been so good to her.  Rather to send her home, where there is no treatment, they are going to send her mother here and get her treatment here.   What a blessing to her that she was called on a mission and sent to a place where she can get treatment.  The Lord is so good! And so wise! And so loving! And knows all!

The Duties and Joys of Serving as an LDS Mission Secretary

Image
I was asked to submit an article to my ward for our ward history on my role as the secretary for the Utah Salt Lake City Mission. Here's what I said.  The Duties and Joys of Serving as an LDS Mission Secretary   July 1, 2025 began my service as the secretary for the Utah Salt Lake City Mission. Serving as a mission secretary is a sacred and meaningful calling.   The mission secretary plays a vital role in supporting the Mission Leaders, assisting the missionaries, and ensuring that the Lord’s work moves forward efficiently and in order.   My daily duties as the mission secretary often include managing mission correspondence, organizing transfers, maintaining missionary records, handling travel logistics, preparing reports, organizing mission meeting and ensuring that all communication between the mission office and individual missionaries runs smoothly.   Beyond the administrative work, the role of a mission secretary is one of quiet servic...
